There's a nip in the air and autumn is definitely here. What better way to celebrate than with that British classic - tweed?
Autumn might not officially be the beginning of a new year, but it always feels like the time is ripe to start something new.
There's a crisp start to each morning, the leaves are turning, and there's the promise of new beginnings.
It's the perfect excuse to cast on a satisfying project for the colder months to come!
I've just finished a super-fluffy sweater in C+B Gigi that I'm super-in-love-with (more on that next time), but right now I'm hankering after a tweedy, traditional knit with a twist.
A stylish cardigan is also always a good bet and the embroidery on this pattern helps keep things interesting, but there's fun to be had with the lace and cables too. Let's have a closer look, shall we?
It's leaflet DB152 if you're irresistibly drawn to it (like me!)
For an equally sophisticated look, this jacket has a nipped in waist and contrast collar, and makes a real statement.
It's from Debbie Bliss's Time for Tweed collection, which is an archive favourite of mine. There are so many great designs in it.
Back to new releases, Designer Yarns has just released a special free pattern to celebrate all things tweed.
These smart wristwarmers are also in Debbie Bliss Fine Donegal, and take just one ball to make.
There are lots of other single leaflets available in Fine Donegal.
I'm rather partial to colourwork, so this tartan collar (leaflet DB162) is right up my street.
For a more classic knit, this beautiful garter and lace shawl (leaflet DB160) is simply stunning.
